Kristi's inspiration and design aesthetic reflects a combination of her Midwestern roots, and West Coast bohemian chic, Los Angeles, California vibe...
She consider's herself the "Urban Minimalist" who designs ethical, timeless, accessories and clothing, for active women to effortlessly add to their existing wardrobes.
From 2003-2005 Kristi attended Los Angeles Trade Tech for Fashion Design & Merchandising in Downtown Los Angeles.
2005 -2006 Kristi worked as a Traveling Specialist for the nonprofit organization Woodcraft Rangers by running their first fashion related after school program, for inner city youth, in South Central LA and the San Fernando Valley.
2004-2006 she designed Kristi Moon Originals, a capsule collection of repurposed, one of a kind skirts, made from recycled leather, denim, and other used textiles. This collection was sold in various high end boutiques in New York City, Miami and Santa Barbara.
From 2004-2012 Kristi was a freelance wardrobe stylist for various Hip Hop and R&B artists, which include Snoop, Ice Cube, Akon and Eminem, as well as major networks and production companies, which include Disney, Telemundo, and MTV.
Kristi's path to build an ethical brand continued to expand. Her textiles and materials are sourced in the US and Canada and all of her goods manufactued locally, in Los Angeles, to reduce the brand's carbon footprint.
AOA Apparel showcased at Project Ethos' Fall 2011 runway show and LA Fashion Weekend's Spring 2012, at Sunset Gower Studios, both in the heart of Hollywood.
In 2012 Kristi won the "Sew Chic" national design contest held by Brother™ Sewing and Cosmo Radio on SiriusXm, for her "Goddess" maxi dress, made from sustainable bamboo jersey and organic cotton lace.
2015 aoajewels.com was launched.
2018 - 2019 she sold her accessory collection, AOA Jewelry, at several Raw Artists showcases in Los Angeles, California.
2020 Kristi was featured on voyagela.com.
2021 AOA Jewelry was in the Conde Naste Traveller Magazine's March and April issues.
2023 Completed The New School Parson x WWD Fashion and Business Essentials Certificate Program
2024 Kristi is relaunching AOA Apparel, which will be available online and in specialty boutiques and retailers.
